How it all started
The first Award ceremony was a glitzy affair at the Grosvenor House
Hotel in central London. Open to our members and the general public the
evening included a celebrity charity auction and a raffle with prizes
donated by vegetarian-friendly companies, raising money for our charitable
work. In 2002 we followed a similar format at the glamorous Waldorf Hotel.
However, fundraising efforts really didn't bring the results we'd hoped
for so from 2004 to 2006, the Awards were presented at smaller, invitation-only
celebrations at the Magic Circle and the Cutty Sark. Between 2006 and
2008 we presented a series of awards on an individual basis, but for
2009 there's an exciting new format focusing on Vegetarian Society Approved
