Greenlife,
Totnes
Here are 3 photos from our shop events.
1).
Below:
Shows Oliver Cowmeadow from the Holistic Cooking School in
Totnes discussing the various vegetarian options
to Oriental cooking.
2). Upper

stand of vegetarian sushi for lunchtime Customers

3). Lower

Mischa
for Customers to sample.
The 2 events went
very well, and although they were only able to be planned at
short notice, the publicity given not only by
Greenlife's own website but also the National Vegetarian Week
website ensured that people in the vicinity of Totnes were able
to visit Greenlife and checkout what was being done to promote
this very worthy week.

And
in Newcastle
I'm
writing on Behalf of REddy Veg, Vegetarian Group, Newcastle upon
Tyne, concerning National Vegetarian Week and the work we did
with Crisis Skylight Cafe. please find below comments from Dawn
Snowball Assistant Manager:
I thought Veggie week in the Crisis Skylight Cafe went really well. During
this week we had extra vegetarian dishes on and they all sold. A special thanks
to you for our supply of posters and leaflets. Staff from our Skylight Centre
contributed to our dishes by emailing recipes, Trainees contributed and cooked
various dishes following recipes under the careful instructions of our Chef
Mark. In all the week was very successful and we have experimented with various
dishes thar we intend to put on the menu. Thanks for the group's support and
custom in The Skylight Cafe.

Oxford
To
promote this year’s NVW OxVeg (Oxford Vegetarians) held
a street stall in Oxford’s city centre on 23rd May. We
arrived at midday for a 4 hour stint and a steady flow of people
quickly swarmed around
us. Leaflets and recipes were popular, but the main attraction
was the selection of free food samples. Fortunately we had secured
a
superb range of products. These included Redwood’s Lancashire
style sausages and Chicken style pieces. Also items from Grassingtons
and delicious chocolate from Plamil (Rum flavoured with raisons)
and Booja Booja (luxury individual chocolates). Rachel Foster’s
homemade chocolate biscuit cake was (unsurprisingly) hugely popular,
big chunks were snapped up throughout the afternoon. A generously
large box of gorgeous wraps (stuffed with rice and roasted vegetables)
provided by local business The Mission (8 St Michael’s
St) were eagerly snapped up. In fact, everything on offer was
completely vegan. Throughout the warm and sunny afternoon we had competition from
other stalls, performances and speakers. These included a bible bashing
Christian preacher, a mobile spiritual healing centre, various drummers
and a group of acappella singers. But we stood our ground and by
the time we finally started to pack up we had successfully seen off
all the other attractions.

Poynton
Olga Gee and Alwynne Cartmell (a veg Soc local contact) discussed the
benefits of being vegetarian and taking care of animals we eat.
At Poynton High School. The teacher in charge was a delightful vegetarian
called Rachel Long and she had created amazing displays on animal cruelty.
