Sweet Success for National Vegetarian Week 18-24 May

Haribo have become the latest company to have products approved by the Vegetarian Society and just in time for National Vegetarian Week 2009.

Haribo products (Forest Tree Range) which will carry the Vegetarian Society approved logo include Mega Sour, Cola Breeze, Sour Delicious, Gummy Bears, Wummis, Zoo, Tropical Fruits and Sour Tongues.

Vanessa Brown Corporate Relations Manager at the Vegetarian Society said, “It’s great that Haribo have created a selection of gelatine free sweets. Now veggies can enjoy the famous sweet, sour, and fruity tastes again and be reassured that packs carrying the Vegetarian Society Approved logo are completely vegetarian.”

Vegetarian Society approval offers consumers an easily identified standard of vegetarian labelling, allowing them to recognise the difference between minimum vegetarian standards and the higher criteria associated with Vegetarian Society approval.

The ‘Vegetarian Society Approved’ Symbol ensures a product or meal is free from meat, fowl, fish or shellfish, and ingredients resulting from slaughter; is GMO free and is free from cross contamination with non vegetarian ingredients during the production process. In addition, any eggs used in a product must be free range.

National Vegetarian Week 2009 18-24 May 2009 is sponsored by Cauldron Foods.
