Interview with Planty

Planty are all about delicious food, cooked by chefs, delivered to you. Better food, better for you, better for the planet. Here we interview Zoe who shares Planty’s mission and passion for great plant-based food and service.

So, Zoe from Planty, where did your journey begin?

Planty is a proudly plant-based, chef-made frozen meal delivery service founded in 2019.

What inspired you to launch a plant-based meal  service?

What started as a passion for making eating more plants easy and delicious has grown into a movement, serving over one million meals across the UK.

What’s the core mission behind everything you do?

At Planty, our core mission is simple but powerful: to make sustainable, plant-based eating easy, exciting, and accessible. That’s why we craft flavour-packed, nutritious vegan meals, delivered frozen for maximum convenience and minimal waste.

How do you define “plant-based” and why is it important?

We define it simply: plant-focused, all-natural ingredients with zero animal products and zero harm to animals. It matters because it’s one of the most effective ways to eat sustainably. We’re here to lead a plant-based revolution that’s better for people, animals and the planet.

What sets you apart from other vegan or meal delivery brands?

What sets us apart is our relentless focus on both product quality and nutrition. Every meal is crafted by our in-house chefs to deliver restaurant-level flavour and presentation, while being thoughtfully balanced with protein, fibre, and essential nutrients to properly fuel your body.

Every meal is handmade with real, whole-food ingredients, then flash frozen to lock in both flavour and goodness. Whether you’re building a flexible subscription box or just ordering what you fancy, there’s plenty to choose from, including globally inspired mains, sides, breakfasts, and sweet treats.

What Planty meal are you most proud of?

Just like you wouldn’t pick a favourite child, we’re proud of all our meals in different ways. (cough cough mac no cheese)

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for you, what does it actually look like in practice?

We believe the most impactful thing individuals can do for the planet is to eat more plant-based foods. We want our customers to feel good about their choices – whether they’re driven by health, sustainability, or taste. Our meals aim to satisfy all three.

How do you source your ingredients? Tell us about your packaging, how eco-friendly is it?

All our fruit and veg are sourced as locally as possible from our London supplier. Other ingredients are also sourced with locality in mind. Our packaging is 100% recyclable, biodegradable, or returnable for free.

What’s one myth about plant-based eating you’d like to squash for good?

There are many, but my favourite to debunk is the protein myth. Yes, you absolutely can get plenty of protein from plant-based foods. Our meals are proof that you don’t need meat to hit your protein goals and enjoy every bite along the way.

What’s next for Planty? Any sneak peeks or big dreams? Any plans for collaborations, new menus, or creative surprises? We can’t spill all the beans just yet… but you can expect more delicious meals, including breakfast, desserts, and much more, coming your way soon. Stay hungry.
