Help Panos Raise Money for the Vegetarian Society by Running the London Marathon!
Running a marathon is something many of us only dream of doing. For one determined runner, however, it’s a way to spread his inspiring story and raise money for the Vegetarian Society.
Panos is running the London Marathon – a big challenge, but one that he believes he has a secret weapon for – his diet.
A few years ago, during the pandemic, Panos hadn’t run in years. He didn’t even have any proper sports equipment. But, armed with determination (and a need to get out of the house), he laced up his shoes and started running. Within 3 years, he had run three full-length marathons.
Panos is running the London Marathon this year to raise money for the Vegetarian Society. As a new vegetarian, Panos wants to support our work and raise money for us.
Hear from the man himself:
‘As someone working in environmental sciences and energy transition, I’ve long believed killing animals for momentary pleasure is wrong – ethically and environmentally.
The science is clear: reducing animal products helps fight climate change. For years, I lied to myself by continuing to eat meat and justifying it as if I had no choice.
That’s why the London Marathon in 2026 will be my first fully vegetarian preparation. I want to prove that a former smoker, drinker, and now-vegetarian man in his 30s can achieve anything.
Partnering with the Vegetarian Society makes this even more meaningful. Their mission aligns with my values, and their recent campaign on cull-free eggs deeply moved me.
From now on, I’ll only eat eggs from farms that respect male chicks. I am, by nature, an optimist. I believe in a greener future, with more vegetarians, better practices, respect for all living beings, and respect for our planet.
I am certain the Vegetarian Society is contributing to that future. My campaign with them is about more than personal goals – if even one person reads this, laces up their shoes, and goes out for a run, that’s the biggest victory. And at the finish line in London in April 2026, I will be smiling.’
