Cheese Awards 2025 Judging

Say Cheese!

Your Chance to Judge at the Artisan Cheese Awards 2025!

The Artisan Cheese Awards – which take place on the Thursday 15th May 2025 at March at St. Mary’s Church in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire – is a key part of the Vegetarian Society’s calendar. For the upcoming 2025 awards, we’re giving Vegetarian Society members, like you, the opportunity to be our judges!

To be one of our judges, all you need is enthusiasm for cheese and to be free on May 15th 2025.

We’re looking for two members to join Becks Wood, our Fundraising and Administration Officer, to cover judging across the vegetarian class. We’ll even cover your travel and your accommodation with an overnight hotel stay in Melton Mowbray!

Chef Manager, Nikita Gordon, who was one of our representatives at the awards in 2024, said:

“Being a judge you really got to see the wide variety of different vegetarian cheeses and their flavours profiles. The obvious passion the artisan cheese creators showed in their products really came across I can’t wait to try some of them in the kitchen.”

If you’d be interested in taking part and representing the Vegetarian Society at the 2025 Artisan Cheese Awards, please fill in the form below by 5th May 2025.

We’ll be in touch if you’re chosen to be a judge!

I'd like to be a judge!

If you would like to be considered for this fantastic (and delicious) volunteering opportunity, please complete these few questions by May 5th 2025. We’ll be in touch if you’re chosen to be a judge! See terms and conditions below.

I'd like to be a judge!

Terms and conditions

To apply, please complete the application form available on the Vegetarian Society website by Monday 5th May 2025. Applicants must answer administrative questions and the following application question: “Tell us why you’d like to be considered to be a judge at the Artisan Cheese Awards 2025?”

Only one application per person will be accepted.

This opportunity is open exclusively to members of the Vegetarian Society who are UK residents aged 18 or over. Employees of the Vegetarian Society, their immediate families, and anyone directly connected with the administration of this event are not eligible to apply.

Two members will be selected based on their responses to the application questions. The decision of the Vegetarian Society is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection.

Selected members will be notified via email by Friday 9th May 2025. If a selected individual does not respond within 4 days of the first notification email, the Vegetarian Society reserves the right to reselect another candidate.

Event Requirements

Judges must be available to attend the judging day on Thursday 15th May 2025, held at St. Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

Judges are required to arrive the night before (Wednesday 14th May 2025) or early on the day of the event, ensuring they are present at the required time. Reasonable travel and one night’s accommodation in Melton Mowbray will be covered by the Vegetarian Society.

Judges are expected to represent the Vegetarian Society professionally. Judging involves tasting vegetarian cheese, so applicants must disclose any dietary restrictions or allergies in advance.
