Working with NHS catering in Scotland
On Tuesday 11th June, Sam Linford-Platt, from COOK! with the Vegetarian Society, attended NHS Scotland (NHSS)’s Catering Strategy Workshop in Dundee.
Sam travelled by train on Monday and stayed overnight in Dundee, before attending the morning meeting at Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre.
The meeting sought to develop NHS Tayside’s Catering Strategy for the next five years, using NHSS’ National Catering Strategy for 2022–27.
The National Catering Strategy includes plans to provide patients with good-quality nutritious food, and to offer consumers seasonal and sustainable menu choices.
“It was a pleasure to be invited to input on the delivery of the NHSS catering strategy in Tayside,” Sam said.
“I met the Tayside catering management team and NHSS staff, along with public representatives. There were some great ideas on how to increase the amount of veggie and vegan foods for patients and in non-patient catering as part of the strategy.
“We’re hoping this will lead to a strong working relationship between the Vegetarian Society and NHSS’ catering teams.”
Thanks to NHS Tayside for having us!
