What difference will my donation make?
Your donation will help people go veggie. It will empower people to create a more sustainable world for future generations by eating vegetarian food and lowering their detrimental impact on the planet.
We’ve only got 11 years to meet the earth’s climate change goals, so we need to act now. The great news is there is something simple each of us can do. One of the biggest ways we can reduce our impact on the world’s resources is to eat less meat and adopt a plant-based diet. The Vegetarian Society makes it easy, fun and practical for more people to do just that.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of people like you.

free cookery classes for community groups
One of the many groups we’ve worked with is the Sahara Women’s Aid project based in Manchester. This group supports women who are living with, or fleeing, domestic abuse. Uzma, who runs the Sahara project, says that the session helped build their confidence while they were going through these difficult times.
Inspiring school chefs
Together with award-winning school chefs, Lyndon McLeod and Tony Mulgrew, We have created a range of tools so there are more veggie choices for school children. This includes instructional videos for school chefs and two terms worth of child-approved veggie and vegan recipes. This means even more schools can provide vegetarian and vegan options which meet strict school budgets and nutritional requirements. We are now creating a third term of training materials for chefs, so children can have even more veggie choices.
Encouraging more people to eat more veggie food
Every year, thousands of people take part in National Vegetarian Week to discover the wonders of vegetarian food. Last year, we reached over 45 million people through newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and online media. This inspires people to give veggie and vegan food a try and have fun doing it! This year, we provided recipes such as Tofu and Chips and Rogan Josh with Chilli Rice for people to cook at home along with celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Chris Packham, Matt Pritchard, Bosh! and The Hairy Bikers.
Sending emergency food boxes to people in need
Since lockdown began in March, we have sent more than 22,000 meals to people and their families across the UK who are relying on food banks. Each box contains the ingredients and recipes for two nutritious, filling veggie meals, which provide people with eight servings of food. Thanks to donations, these food boxes are still going out to locations where they need it most.
HELPING people Eat to Beat Climate Change
Eating veggie food is the single biggest thing we can all do to reduce our impact on the environment. Our Eat to Beat Climate Change campaign is about inspiring people to choose veggie and vegan food more of the time so that together we can beat climate change. We help people do this by giving advice and information to over 20,000 people every month. This provides them with the practical tools to discover a healthy vegetarian lifestyle and help the environment.
