Kenton Price: Planting Seeds for a Kinder Future

Kenton Price: Planting Seeds for a Kinder Future

I want to challenge people’s habits—too often, people say they love animals, but then eat them.”

“We live in an age where animals don’t need to suffer, and we don’t need to feel deprived when it comes to meal choices.”

When Kenton Price became a vegetarian back in 1991, he soon knew it was a lifelong choice. “I always knew I would remain a vegetarian,” he recalls, “so becoming a Life Member of The Vegetarian Society felt like a natural commitment.”

Over recent years, Kenton has embraced more vegan foods, gradually reducing his use of dairy and eggs.

The seeds of his journey were planted at university.

“I couldn’t even boil an egg when I first started cooking for myself,” he laughs.

But soon, food became more than a practical necessity – it became an ethical decision. One Christmas, confronted with the traditional turkey dinner, Kenton was struck by a moment of clarity.

“I apologised to the turkey and promised I’d never do that again. It didn’t feel right to eat animals while claiming to care about them.”

That turning point not only shaped his life but also his own intentions on how he wants to impact the world. Kenton has chosen to include a percentage of his estate in his Will to The Vegetarian Society.

“The charity can use the money better than I could through their campaigning and awareness,” he explains. By leaving a residual gift, he knows his loved ones will be cared for first, while ensuring his gift continues to make an impact into the future.

For Kenton, the hope is simple but powerful: “I want to challenge people’s habits, just as I challenged my own. Too often, people say they love animals, but then eat them. I can’t change that at scale myself—but my gift might help the Society do just that.”

Kenton and his partner, also vegetarian, are planning a fully plant-based wedding in 2026, showcasing to friends and family that delicious food doesn’t need to come at the cost of animal lives.

“We believe it’s possible to celebrate without compromise—and we want others to see that too.”

He encourages anyone considering a gift in their Will to take the step: “For a relatively small amount of your estate, you can make a big difference.”

Your values can live on too. By including The Vegetarian Society in your Will, you can inspire future generations to make compassionate choices and help create a world where animals no longer suffer for food.
