Egg-Free, Nut-Free, Suitable for Freezing

Scones are a quintessential British classic which can be enjoy with or without cream and jam.
Ingredients
- 225g self-raising flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 50g margarine
- 25g caster sugar
- 125ml milk
- A pinch of salt
- extra milk, for brushing
Method
- Preheat oven to 230°C / fan 210°C / gas 7.
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl.
- Cut margarine into small pieces and use your fingers to rub into the mixture, until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add the sugar and milk, then mix into a soft dough.
- Roll out onto a floured surface. Cut the scones out using a 6cm wide cutter and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Brush with a little milk and bake for 7 to 10 mins.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
