Join spice guru, Lajina for a day filled with delicious Indian food.
You’ll learn how to cook authentic Indian cuisine that will wow your friends and make your local takeaway a distant second choice for a curry.

Lajina’s family-oriented style of Punjabi cooking is great to try in your own kitchen. Using everyday, accessible ingredients, you’ll explore both classic and creative recipes, mastering the essentials to wow your friends and family with incredible dishes. Cumin, a key spice in Indian cuisine, will be at the heart of the recipes.

Recipes you are likely to make include:

Chana Methi Palak: Cumin-Spiced Chickpea Curry with Spinach and Methi
Learn to create a delicious and versatile curry base that you’ll transform into a protein packed bowl of chickpea, spinach and methi (feunugreek) curry.

Pickle Steamed Rice: Fluffy Rice Infused with Lemon or Mango Pickle
Master the technique of cooking fluffy rice from scratch, seasoned with spicy lemon or sweet mango pickle.

Carrot and Chickpea Bhel Salad: A Salad Dance in a Bowl

Veg Pakoras: Crispy Vegetable Fritters Paired with a Fresh Chilli and Garlic Scented Tomato Chutney

Coconut, Mango and Mint Lassi: A sweet, spicy lassi for the ultimate end to your Indian feast

Above recipes are subject to availability of ingredients.

You’ll be able to make the recipes you learn on this class at home, time and time again. After your cookery experience, you will be emailed a pack for you to keep containing all of the recipes you learned on the day.

Do I need any prior experience?

Not at all. Please don’t worry if you are a beginner as this class is completely suitable for all levels. All you need is a willingness to learn and give things a go!

What to expect on the day

Tutors will guide you through the preparation of various dishes, teaching you essential cooking skills and techniques while introducing you to key ingredients.

You’ll work mainly individually, allowing you to gain hands-on experience.

You’ll enjoy a relaxed and interactive learning environment with plenty of tastings, and you can take everything you make home with you.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring containers for taking food away with you

There will be the opportunity to purchase additional refreshments and merchandise such as aprons.

Please note that we are a cashless establishment and only accept card payments.

There is a platform lift to the 1st floor where COOK! is located and step-free access to the building

We have lower work stations available for seated use

Meet your tutor

An enthusiastic and passionate chef; Lajina loves to cook authentic, home-style Indian food. Her dishes are full of flavour, with a focus on health, so her recipes have a reduction of fat, sugar and salt.
Lajina’s love of cooking stemmed from wanting to cook nutritious meals for her son. She drew inspiration from TV shows and cookery books before deciding to set up her own company ‘Lajina Masala’.
Lajina believes that the key to delicious Indian food is in the spices. During her class, you will learn some perfect spice blends to bring your own curries to life!
