Our cookery school's been out and about!
Sam from the Vegetarian Society Cookery School shares news from our recent pop-up classes in Greater Manchester.
While we’re waiting for our new permanent home, our cookery school team have been out and about! We’re continuing our popular touring classes across Greater Manchester, this time popping up at the Heys School in Prestwich.
Maz and Nikita brought our Vietnamese and Thai Cookery and refreshed Essential Vegetarian Cookery classes to lots of eager home cooks. People travelled from as far afield as Essex and Suffolk to take part.
Maz introduced attendees to the vibrant and diverse flavours of Southeast Asia, teaching the class about aromatic herbs, bold spices, and exciting produce. Meanwhile, Nikita dug deep into veggie proteins and how to build delicious and nutritious dishes. The class favourite – spanakopita with traditional Greek roasted vegetables – definitely stole the show!
One of the wonderful things about teaching face-to-face is the immediate feedback our tutors receive. Everyone loved how easy and tasty the dishes were. Students also love the extra food hacks and skills our tutors pass on.
One student said they learned ‘how best to organise myself in the kitchen. Maz is a whizz at saving time and washing up!’ Another student said they loved ‘the little tips they learned from Nikita along the way, like how to chop an onion properly, and how to best use spices.’
We’ll be popping up again in March and April with more new classes and past favourites. Look out for us and come say hi!
