Jam is easy to make by simmering fruit, sugar and a little water together, so you can’t go far wrong.
Ingredients
- 450g blackberries
- 225g Bramley or similiar cooking apples peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 lemon juiced
- 200g granulated sugar or less depending on how sweet you like it
Method
- Before starting, make sure your jars, spoons and pans are all sterile.
- Place the blackberries and apples in a large pan and add the water and lemon juice, then simmer for 15 minutes until tender.
- Add the sugar and stir over a low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Then bring to the boil and boil rapidly for 10-15 minutes until setting point is reached.
- Remove from the heat then pot and cover immediately.
