School Catering Training

Does your school accommodate the growing number of children who are vegetarian or vegan? Increase the plant-based options in your school canteen with our School Catering Training.

By enhancing your plant-based offering, you’ll cater for a range of dietary requirements, save money and help students get their five a day.

Not sure where to start? We can show you how to deliver suitable vegetarian and vegan options with our School Catering Training. We work with schools and councils across the country, teaching catering staff how to make sustainable plant-based food.

As part of the training, we will provide you with a full year’s (three terms) worth of recipe packs, costed for school budgets. These meals have been created by award-winning school chefs, Tony Mulgrew and Lyndon McLeod, and are designed for bulk cooking in canteens. Plus, they’re carbon-calculated, so your school can show it’s doing its bit for the planet too.

After attending our training, catering staff will be equipped to offer a comprehensive plant-based menu in your school canteen. 

  • Learn how to cook cost-effective plant-based recipes, catering for varying student dietary needs, while saving time and money.
  • Upskill on professional vegetarian and vegan cookery, learning to make delicious meals students will love.
  • Discover how to build protein into veggie and vegan dishes, giving students healthy options filled with protein, fruit and veg.
  • Receive three terms’ worth of ready to implement recipes, created by award-winning school chefs and carbon-calculated to help your school reach eco targets.

Case Study: Bolton Council

In 2022, representatives of Bolton Council took our Schools Catering Training, We taught their managers how to create new vegetarian and vegan options for the borough’s school children. Cllr Nadim Muslim, Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for environmental services, said: “These meals will be exciting and tasty additions to the school menus. Plant-based meals are becoming increasingly popular so we’re responding by giving more choice to parents and pupils, who are looking for an alternative.”

Prices start at £850 a day for up to 12 attendees (plus VAT and travel expenses)

We will tailor our training to suit your needs, whether you would like training for one school catering team, or are a multi-academy trust and want to train staff from multiple schools at the same time.
